It’s all possible.

In our disrupted and distracted world, change is the new normal. Having a positive mindset and taking positive action is a must.

Of course, not without hard work. So then, here's our question for today:

How can you become the best possible you, no matter your role?

To help us with this today, we have Rob Hartnett, Founder and Managing Director of Business Performance International. Rob is an award-winning sales and marketing leader, world champion sailor, author of the book It's All Possible, and host of the It's All Possible Podcast.

Think Big, Break Barriers, and Unleash Potential

The key to success isn't just talent; it's about vision, execution, and overcoming obstacles. To achieve big things, you need to reimagine possibilities, remove obstacles, and release your full potential. Success often begins when someone pushes beyond what's been done before, proving it's possible. Once the barrier is broken, others follow.

“If your attitude and mindset are small, we'll only have small ideas, and the world doesn't need your small ideas. It wants your big idea. It wants what you think you can do best, and so we want big ideas.”

Rob Hartnett, Founder and Managing Director of Business Performance International

The 3 Rs to Success

Rob's 3 Rs offers a powerful approach to achieving success. First, Reimagine Possibility by thinking big and challenging past limits. This also means setting aside what's been done before and daring to dream bigger. Next, Remove Obstacles by identifying and tackling the barriers that stand in your way. Challenges are inevitable, but they are also opportunities to grow. Finally, Release Potential by unlocking the untapped skills and strengths within yourself and your team. When you empower others, you open the door to even greater achievements.

“There is always potential in every one of us, or if you're a leader in your team, there is great potential, and we haven't released them, we haven't found out who that person is. We haven't delegated. I often see leaders take on too much stuff. And they do stuff. You go, do you like all the stuff you do? No, I hate it. Why don't you give it to someone who will actually love it?”

Breaking the Mold

One key lesson from Rob's journey is the value of breaking the mold in leadership. His experience with Kim Hamilton at HP showed how a great leader can drive change by bringing in fresh perspectives, empowering their team, and creating space for failure and innovation. Kim's ability to influence across all levels was a game-changer, allowing the marketing and sales teams to work seamlessly, align goals, and ultimately succeed.

From Burnout to Breakthrough

When you're feeling stuck or burnt out in your role, take a step back and break things down into smaller, manageable, and achievable tasks. Once you've chunked it down, take the first step, no matter how small. Assess your progress along the way and focus on building mental fitness. Surround yourself with the right people, celebrate your wins, and remember that action often leads to passion.

“People go too hard on themselves trying to find their ultimate purpose in life. We've gotta take action. You can't get passionate about something you haven't done. Act first, then go, then you actually will come through from that.”

The Art of Cold Outreach

To successfully engage with someone in a decision-making position, remember the mantra: "Be brief, be brilliant, and be gone." Start by delivering a clear and captivating message that piques their interest. Listen actively to pick up on cues about their communication style; this can help tailor your approach, whether they're quick and to the point or prefer a more detailed conversation. If you can, leverage mutual connections for a warm introduction, as this builds instant trust and opens the door for meaningful dialogue.
