Our focus on sustainability and community involvement
ValueSelling Associates, Inc.’s Social Responsibility Program (CSR) is built on two foundations: sustainability and community involvement.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Sustainability
We recognize that frequent travel and the associated carbon footprint have historically been a component of the sales profession and the sales training industry. Here’s what we’re doing to change that.
Investments in Virtual
ValueSelling Associates is a leader in eLearning and virtual instructor-led training.
- We recognized the potential of eLearning as a crucial component for making sales training stick, launching our first program in 1999.
- While others frantically launched virtual training programs in March of 2020, we doubled down on our investment in virtual delivery — a service we had offered for over a decade.
Growing Business & the World’s Forests
We believe that simple, repeatable actions lead to lasting behavioral change and results — both for sales organizations and the environment:
- Through One Tree Planted, we invest in planting one tree for every professional we certify in the ValueSelling Framework®.
- We’ve adopted Ecosia as our search engine — a company that uses revenue generated from search ads to plant one tree for every search performed.
Making Travel & Shipping More Green
Human-to-human connection is a foundation of successful business partnerships. As a result, travel is sometimes a necessary investment in these relationships. At ValueSelling, we strive to make travel more sustainable by being thoughtful about our choices.
Shipping
Whether our trainings are held virtually or on-site, they are accompanied by welcome packages that are tailored to each client and a vital component of the participant-centered approach. Inspired by DHL’s commitment to sustainability, we have chosen it as our preferred shipping method for all international shipments.
Travel
We encourage all employees, partners and client participants to opt for greener modes of transportation, including selecting airlines with commitments to radically reducing emissions, like Delta Airlines, and ride-share providers that offer electric and hybrid vehicles such as Uber Green and Lyft Green Mode.
Community Involvement
One of our core values is the Growth Mindset: Grow as individuals and as a team by continuously elevating skills and habits to be elite professionals. This focus is also extended to the communities in which we operate through a focus on community partnerships and scholarship.
Community Partnerships
Julie Thomas, President and CEO, is an esteemed member of the eWomenNetwork Foundation Advisory Council. The eWomenNetwork Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and in-kind services in support of health, safety, and wellness initiatives, educational scholarships, and entrepreneurial mentorships for women and children.
ValueSelling Associates partners with Connect-US, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Bridgeport, CT. Connect-US brings together suburban and urban neighbors to improve the quality of outcomes for young people living in communities of concentrated poverty. Julie Thomas will be leading webinars for high schoolers and making eValueSelling Fundamentals eLearning available to them.
In addition to our ongoing programs, we create the space for our employees to find meaningful ways to impact their own communities — providing employees with an additional day of PTO to dedicate to the volunteer program of their choice.
Scholarship
Since 2005, we have supported the next generation of sales professionals through the ValueSelling Associates Endowed Scholarship Fund at the University of Colorado, Leeds School of Business. In 2020, we added a second scholarship for students from historically underrepresented groups who are interested in pursuing a career in sales.
